Description

Welcome to this course on Learning English through Stories. This course has been specially designed for Class IX students, but it can also be used by other learners who wish to strengthen their English in a fun and meaningful way.

In this course, we use the story Echo and Narcissus from Greek mythology as a learning tool. Stories are powerful because they not only entertain us but also teach us values and improve our language skills. By reading this story and working through the activities, you will:

• Enjoy Reading: Read the story in simple English with Hindi support where needed.
• Build Vocabulary: Learn the meaning of new and difficult words in context.
• Understand Grammar: Explore how adjectives (describing words) are used to make writing more expressive and clear.
• Think about Values: Reflect on respect, kindness, empathy, and humility through the actions of the characters.
• Practice Skills: Strengthen speaking, reading, and comprehension through interactive tasks and games.

The course is structured in four parts, following the spirit of the NCF-SE 2023 approach to language learning:

1. Reading – Model reading and student loud reading for better comprehension.
2. Knowledge – Questions and tasks to check your understanding of the story.
3. Skills – Grammar focus on adjectives and practice through activities.
4. Values – Reflection and sorting activities to connect the story to real-life behavior.

This course is meant to make English joyful, interactive, and useful. It is not only about learning grammar rules but also about enjoying literature and becoming better human beings through values. Whether you are a ninth-class student or a learner of any age, this course invites you to read, reflect, and grow.
